On a back road in West Virginia, I was half heartedly driving towards Spruce Knob. I was less than enthused to go up to West Virginia's high point on a day that was alternating rain and overcast. All the small towns and communities kept my interest as they petered out towards the forest roads, and after passing through one, a hollow containing a collection of houses, an abandoned gas station and a good number of heads turning to watch me pass through, I followed Seneca Creek to this little scene along it's gentle banks. Although it was early in the morning, it was long past sunup--yet the clouds seemed to become darker as I set up. This is a 13 second exposure, unusual at this time of day.
